What's running on your Mac stays on your Mac.
Foreman reads what your Mac is doing so it can show it to you, and that's where it stops. It collects nothing about you and has no analytics. Here's everything it reads, what it keeps, the two things it sends, and what this website does.
What Foreman reads, and why
Foreman reads these on your Mac, only to show them to you. None of it leaves your Mac.
- The processes running on your Mac: their names, where they live, who runs them, and the CPU, memory, disk, network, GPU and energy each one uses.
- How busy your Mac is as a whole: CPU, memory and memory pressure, disk, network and GPU, for the graphs.
- What starts at login. Your login items are read through System Events, which macOS asks you to allow once; the rest comes from the system's own lists of launch agents and daemons.
- The background services on your Mac, so you can start, stop and restart them.
Foreman changes something only when you ask it to: ending, suspending or slowing a process, or switching a login item or a service on or off. Changes to system processes ask for an administrator password first.
What stays on your Mac
- Your settings, such as the menu bar readout and the page Foreman opens on.
- The login items you switched off, so you can switch them back on.
- Each app's totals for App history, which last only as long as the app stays open.
- Your license key, in your keychain.
What goes online, and only this
- License checks, to Dodo Payments, our merchant of record: your license key and a name for this Mac made of its model and four random characters (like “MacBook Pro 7F3A”), so one key can count its three Macs.
- Update checks, to everydaymactools.com: Foreman asks for the list of versions, at most once a day. Updates download only from everydaymactools.com and are checked against our signature before they're opened.
Search online opens a web search for that process's name in your browser. Buying opens the checkout in your browser.
This website
This site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies, to count visits and see which pages people read. It knows nothing about your Mac, and Foreman itself doesn't use it.
Checkout happens on Dodo Payments, who handle your payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address and the order, so we can send your key and help if something goes wrong.
